On March 22, Federal President Steinmeier received the ambassadors of the Arab countries for talks. The Federal President emphasised: A two-state solution remains the only prospect for real peace. This is the only way Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in the long term. Israel's Arab neighbours are key players for a future in peace and security. We must all take responsibility together. Only together can we succeed, said the Federal President.

The talks also covered the current state of negotiations on a ceasefire and the release of hostages, the disastrous humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the situation in the entire region. On March 18, the Federal President had met Israel's ambassador.
